Anthem Dental Providers
- Anthem has a large network of dental providers that accept standalone dental plans and Anthem Medicare Advantage plans that include dental coverage. Learn more about Anthem Medicare plans, the benefits they may offer and Medicare Advantage plan eligibility requirements.
Anthem and the Anthem family of brands (such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, Simply, Wellpoint, Anthem Blue Cross and others) provide dental coverage and other health benefits in a number of states through standalone dental plans. Dental benefits can also be included in some Anthem Medicare Advantage (Medicare Part C) plans.
The Anthem network of dental providers includes over 143,000 dentists, orthodontists, suppliers of dental equipment and more.
Finding an Anthem Dental Provider Near You
Anthem makes it easy to find dental providers who are part of an Anthem plan network.
Anthem members may log into their online portal to find participating dentists, dental offices and more. You can also use the Anthem online dental provider search tool to find providers near you who are part of an Anthem plan network.
Non-members can choose their state and see a directory of participating dental providers in their state and zip code.
Anthem Dental Coverage
Anthem dental coverage can be found as a benefit of certain group or individual dental plans, or as part of some Anthem Medicare Advantage plans.
Medicare Advantage, or Medicare part C, is a form of private Medicare insurance sold by companies like Anthem. The plans are required by law to include all of the same benefits as Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Part B). Medicare Advantage plans can also provide some additional benefits not found in Original Medicare.
Among the most popular additional benefits is dental coverage.
Original Medicare does not provide coverage for routine dental care and only covers dental services in rare circumstances. In 2024, 97% of Medicare Advantage plans covered routine dental care.
Some of the services that may be covered by an Anthem dental provider include:
- Exams
- X-rays
- Cleanings
- Fluoride treatments
- Fillings
- Extractions
- Root canals
- Crowns
- Dentures
- Bridges
- Implants
Anthem Dental Costs
Using an Anthem Medicare Advantage plan at a dental provider may require you to first satisfy an annual deductible and require copayments or coinsurance for remaining balances.
Costs may vary by plan, so be sure to review all of your local plan options using a tool like the Medicare plan finder.
Enrolling in Anthem Blue Cross Dental Coverage
There are generally few restrictions for enrolling in a standalone dental plan through Anthem or other carriers. You can sign up for Anthem dental plans at any time of the year and do not need to be enrolled in an Anthem health insurance plan in order to do so.
For dental coverage through a Medicare Advantage plan, you must enroll during certain times of the year, such as when you first become eligible for Original Medicare or during the Annual Enrollment Period that takes place each fall.
To apply for a Medicare Advantage plan, you also must be enrolled in both Medicare Part A and Part B. See our Medicare enrollment guide for more information about eligibility and enrollment dates.
