What Is Medicare Supplement?

There are 10 standardized Medicare Supplement Insurance plans available in most states, and the benefits of each type of plan are standardized by the federal government. Aside from any enrollment incentives (which we’ll discuss later), Plan A from Humana will offer the same coverage as Plan A from Mutual of Omaha. And that remains true for any plan of the same identifying letter.

1. Plans C and F are not available to new beneficiaries who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.
2. Plans F and G also offer a high deductible plan which has an annual deductible of $2,870 in 2025. Once the annual deductible is met, the plan pays 100% of covered services for the rest of the year. The high deductible Plan F is not available to new beneficiaries who became eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.
3. Plan K has an out-of-pocket yearly limit of $7,220 in 2025. Plan L has an out-of-pocket yearly limit of $3,610 in 2025.
4. Plan N pays 100% of the Part B coinsurance, except for a copayment of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for emergency room visits that don’t result in an inpatient admission.

Humana offers a robust selection of plans, with eight of the 10 policies included in its lineup. Humana Medigap plan selection consists of Plans A, B, C, F (and high-deductible F), G (and high-deductible G), K, L and N. It’s important to note, however, that not every plan is guaranteed to be available in each location. 

The Mutual of Omaha Medigap plan lineup is slightly smaller than what Humana offers, with Plans A, F (and high-deductible Plan F), G (and high-deductible G) and N.
