What Is SilverSneakers With Humana?
SilverSneakers is a fitness program designed specifically for older adults. It is offered at gyms and community centers all over the U.S. and can include free access to a wide variety of activities, including:
- Weight training
- Cardio exercises
- Yoga or tai chi
- Walking groups
- Sports leagues
In addition to the program itself, a SilverSneakers membership grants you access to any of the amenities included with a basic gym membership. Depending on the facility, your membership might include access to swimming pools, basketball or tennis courts, saunas, locker rooms and other services that may be available at the facility.
Where Is Humana SilverSneakers Offered?
There are thousands of SilverSneakers locations all over the U.S. You can use the SilverSneakers participating locations search tool to find a fitness center or gym near you that accepts SilverSneakers.
Some SilverSneakers programs are offered indoors at gyms and fitness centers. Other SilverSneakers programs include FLEX activities that are held outdoors at parks and recreation centers.
And if there aren’t SilverSneakers location near you, you can participate in free workouts at home. SilverSneakers offers a library of on-demand workout videos that can be accessed from a computer, tablet or smartphone. SilverSneakers will even send you your choice of four workout kits: general fitness, strength, walking or yoga.
How Do Humana Medicare Advantage Plans Work?
A Humana Medicare Advantage plan covers all of the same services and items that are covered by Original Medicare (Medicare Part A and Part B).
In addition to this basic coverage, Humana Medicare Advantage plans also can cover some benefits not found in Original Medicare. These additional benefits can include things like coverage of dental and vision care, prescription drugs or hearing.

When Can I Enroll in SilverSneakers Through a Humana Medicare Plan?
You may different types of opportunities to enroll in a Humana Medicare Advantage plan that offers SilverSneakers.
- Your first opportunity to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan is typically during your Medicare Initial Enrollment Period (IEP), which begins three months before your 65th birthday, includes the month of your birthday and lasts for another three months after that, for a total of seven months.
- You may also be able to enroll in a Humana Medicare Advantage plan or switch from one Medicare Advantage plan to another during the fall Medicare Open Enrollment Period (also called the Annual Enrollment Period or AEP), which lasts from October 15 to December 7 each year.
- Depending on your individual circumstances, you may also have the opportunity to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan (or switch plans) if you lose your current coverage through no fault of your own, move to a new area or experience any other life events that may qualify you for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP).
